Title: Thermal immobilization of poly(methyloctyl-siloxane) in the pores of chromatographic silica

Abstract: Poly(methyloctylsiloxane), PMOS, can be thermally immobilized in porous silica particles at temperatures of 80 to 150 degreesC to produce monolayer stationary phases and efficient reversed phase columns. Thermal immobilization at higher temperatures (180-280 degreesC) produces thicker ("bi-layer") stationary phases with much lower HPLC efficiencies - in marked contrast to the efficient "bi-layer" stationary phases previously obtained by gamma-radiation immobilization of PMOS.
