Abstract: Hemangiomas, vascular malformations, and varices are common benign vascular lesions in the head and neck region. They can occur in the mouth and primarily affect the lips, tongue, buccal mucosa, and palate. The main types of treatments are surgery and intralesional injection of sclerosant agents. However, other therapies have been considered, such as systemic corticosteroids, laser therapy, interferon a, and cryotherapy. Currently, sclerotherapy is employed largely because of its efficiency and ability to conserve the surrounded tissues. Surgery can be used exclusively or associated with sclerotherapy in lesions that do not show complete resolution. This article describes the cases of two patients with oral hemangiomas that were submitted to sclerotherapy with ethanol-amine oleate. Although an important decrease was detected after seven applications in both cases, surgical resection of the residual lesion was performed to achieve optimal results.
