Title: A New Optical Heterodyne Technique For Generating Multi-amplitude Microwave Signals

Abstract: We propose a new technique that uses photodiode nonlinear response to convert two modulated optical signals into a single multi-amplitude microwave signal. Experimental tests successfully show the generation of 20 GHz quaternary amplitude-shift keying signals. © 2011 IEEE.
