|Title:||Crisscrossing Borders: The Statistical Education Of Math Teachers [entrecruzando Fronteiras: A Educação Estatística Na Formação De Professores De Matemática.]|
|Author:||Goncalves Costa W.N.|
|Abstract:||In this article, we assume the perspective that the present demand for probability and statistics teaching in Basic Education implies changes in university-level math programs. We discuss our reflections and actions as we have faced the challenge of constituting or reconstituting the professional identity of the future mathematical educator, in the quest to become a statistical educator. We emphasize that, for this to occur, it is important to detail the domains and the borders between these profiles, but also to encourage movement between them and intensify relations between math, statistics, pedagogy, ethics and professional education in university-level math programs. To support and illustrate our arguments, we situate the discussions in the transformations that have taken place in the curricular matrix of the program where we teach.|
