|Abstract:||Recent publications about insomnia are numerous, however, no more then ten are related to its epidemiology, diagnosis, diferential diagnosis, and treatment in General Hospitals, in the last thirty years. The author describes three researches of Liaison Psychiatry in General Hospital, where the consultation main purpose wasn't sleep disorder. In General Hospital, insomnia can be the cause and/or the consequence of neuropsychiatric, clinical, surgical and environmental disturbances. Its assessment and treatment involve the General Hospital and the society; both individual and global, looking at the patient's physical, psychological, social, environmental and historical well being.|
