Title: Gain Fluctuations In An Optical Fiber Parametric Amplifiers

Abstract: The dependence of fiber optical parametric amplifiers gain was analyzed as a function on the relative phase of the three input waves: pump, signal and idler. It was shown that signal amplification is strongly phase dependent for small signal-to-idler power ratio. Further, it was demonstrated that in the case where the input idler is an optical noise field, gain fluctuations ≥ 1 dB are expected for signal-to-idler input ratios ≤20 dB.
