|Abstract:||The objective was to obtain support to the health education of elderly with glaucoma. We interviewed three glaucoma patients, with ages above 60 years, individually, prior to a group session. We identified and analyzed the senses and meanings of glaucoma and of life itself as well the relationship between them, from the Vygotsky's perspective. The significance of glaucoma takes form during the patient's emotional constitution and experiences, remodelling of their subjective condition and their lives. The central motivation in this significance is the hope of a cure for glaucoma and the desire to preserve the autonomy and independence.|
