Abstract: The production history matching process is one of the most routine tasks performed by reservoir engineers because it represents a significant part of the integration of reservoir characterization and petroleum production forecast activities. The main characteristic of this process is it's complexity due to the large amount of uncertainties of the parameters involved and the high number of variables that need to be calibrated. This complexity results in a low efficiency of manual processes, and, at the same time, makes it difficult to develop automated optimization procedures dedicated to minimize the difference between observed and simulated data. Therefore, assisted procedures have been devised toincorporate the advantages of manual processes, produced with the experience of history matching practitioners, and automated procedures, which speed up the process and provide a better exploration of the problem solution space. The expected result is to enhance theoutput quality while reducing the computational load. This work shows some examples of assisted history matching processes with study cases with different degrees of complexity.
