Title: Optimization Through Desirability Functions And Fatorial Design For A Catalytic Cracking Unit

Abstract: One of the challenges for the researchers in the field of chemical engineering is the search for the best process plant operation conditions. Many works have been developed with the objective to optimize the processes and thus increase unit production and yield. An alternative for production process optimization, instead of extensive real plant analysis, is the optimization through factorial design coupled with detailed process modeling. In this context, this work aims the optimization of a catalytic cracking process, mainly in respect to the reaction conversion. The optimization was achieved through a combination of mathematical modeling with factorial design. In such approach it is possible to use detailed process representation so that realistic optimal conditions can be obtained.
