Abstract: The various techniques of economic valuation of environmental damages in the coastal spills of petroleum were analyzed discussed. The methodologies of environmental valuation includes changes in the productivity, costs of illness and opportunity cost. These methodologies are used where the environmental impact have a larger duration of time, except for cases of aerial pollution and of rivers where the space delimitation cannot be made with much precision. It is observed that the contingent valuation and the great amount of precise data required for energy analysis hinder its application.
