Title: Anisotropic Magnetic Confinement. Applications To Field-reversed Configurations

Abstract: Introducing an auxiliary function of the usual poloidal magnetic stream function, it is possible to obtain axisymmetric solutions of the ideal anisotropic magnetohydrodynamic equations for steady rotating plasmas, in terms of solutions of the Maschke and Perrin equation for isotropic plasmas, with temperature as a surface function. For vanishing rotation, the problem is reduced to the classical Grad-Schlüter-Shafranov equation for static equilibria. Some applications of the equilibrium models to the study of tilting stability and classical particle transport in field-reversed configurations are presented.
