Abstract: This research aims to analyze the sustainability barriers applied in civil construction projects (CC) by the Triple Bottom Line (TBL). Despite having sustainable alternatives and solutions in this sector, in Brazil, even with the recent advancement discussions about this topic, the term "sustainability" stills in it’s initial stage, with many impediments that allow breaking paradigms of project managers, who usually adopt conventional processes. The barriers and constructs identified were supported in the article (DURDYEV et al., 2018) and through a bibliographic review, based on a bibliometric study. The research was conducted from primary collected data by a survey questionnaire applied to project managers in Brazil. The chosen statistical analysis model was the Structural Equations Model (SEM). This research validated the statistics structural model used, allowing to analyze the influence of barriers on TBL performance and obtaining as a results that the constructs "Government" and "Knowledge and Information" were those that had real significance in preventing the adoption of sustainable practices. Furthermore, the phenomenon of barriers acting together and synergistically on each pillar of the TBL was observed, resulting that the "Environmental" axis was the most affected, followed by "Social" and "Economic". Therefore, this work valitaded the main hypothesis: "barriers negatively impact the adoption of sustainable practices for CC", verifying that the absence of some governmental requirements for the adoption of sustainable projects in the Brazilian context, as well as the non-prioritization of this topic in the CC production chain by senior management, are elements that does not favor sustainability performance
