Abstract: The Latin America, from 1974 to 2022, has had 13 Presidents. Among the 21 countries that belong to the bloc, 11 have already been governed by elected or interim women. This research focuses on President Dilma Rousseff in Brazil and President Cristina Kirchner in Argentine. The main objective is to investigate and analyze the framing of gender and politics that the newspapers Folha de S. Paulo and Clarín gave to the headlines and images on the covers that reported about the Presidents during their mandates. Dilma Rousseff won the elections in 2010 and 2014. Cristina Kirchner won in 2007 and 2011. The research presents two specific investigation ways. The first one refers to the covers of the victories in the presidential elections and the inauguration ceremonies of the Presidents. The second clipping shows the covers of the first 10 days and the last 10 days of both governments of the two Presidents. The study also makes an additional analysis of the covers of Presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Néstor Kirchner, respectively, their predecessors. The proposal is to make an empirical counterpoint with men from the same political spectrum, in the same temporal situation and using the same brazilian and argentine newspapers. The textual and visual, elements of the cover, are analyzed using french Discourse Analysis methodologies and media framing based on the philosopher Judith Butler's thinking. According to the established time frame, 154 covers in the brazilian and argentine newspapers were collected and observed. The criteria to select the covers are: image of the President, citations in the headline and/or in the caption of the photograph. The valid words in the headline and/or in the caption were: full name, first name, surname of each President or the words like "President", "President" e "Presidency". Based on these criteria, 60 covers were presented and analyzed in this study
